Chennai: Domestic departure flights from the new airport terminal in the city are likely to commence in a week or ten days. The information technology-related systems are yet to be synchronised with the airport that is causing some delay in the shifting of departure flights to the new building, said an official of the Chennai airport on anonymity.
As was done with the arrivals, all domestic departure flights will be shifted to the new building in a phased manner.
Meanwhile, there will be a change in vehicle traffic pattern at Chennai airport for domestic flights. After a series of domestic arrivals in the new building, the arrival flights of three airlines — Go Air, SpiceJet and IndiGo — had already moved to the new domestic terminal. Two airlines — Jet Airways and Air India — will move shortly.
