Traffic pattern changes at Chennai airport

Chennai: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday announced a change in the traffic pattern at the new domestic terminal, as most domestic flights have shifted to the new arrival hall.
Airport director H.S. Suresh said arriving domestic flights such as GoAir, Indigo and SpiceJet have already moved to the new terminal. In a few more days, both Jet Airways and Air India are also expected to shift their arrival operations to the new terminal. And so, a change in the traffic pattern has been effected from Wednesday evening, Mr Suresh said.
Under the new pattern, all vehicles coming to the domestic arrival/departure will turn right from GST Road and will be routed through the new terminal building. Mr Suresh said signboards have been installed at strategic locations at the airport to guide vehicle drivers. As far as the international arrival/departures are concerned, there will not be any change and the existing traffic pattern will continue, he added.
An AAI officer said the commissioning of the departure hall at the new domestic terminal will be followed by the commissioning of the flyover at the airport.
