Mumbai: : Mumbai airport continues to have the worst record in flight delays among Indian metros. Statistics show that four of the five airlines operating on the domestic sector have better on-time performance (OTP) at other major metro airports than in Mumbai.
Regulator DGCA's data shows that Air India, Spice Jet, Go Air and IndiGo stuck to their schedules more in Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad than in Mumbai last year. Jet Airways suffered more delays in Delhi .
The low-cost carrier IndiGo, the data showed, adhered to schedule on more than 91% occasions in all metros save in Mumbai, where its OTP was 84.6%. Spice Jet was best at Chennai airport with an OTP of 94%. At Delhi airport, widely regarded the country's busiest, Spice Jet kept to the schedule nearly 80% of the time and at Mumbai airport 73% of the time.
