Rain causes flooding, disrupts flights


Muscat: While Khasab, Bukha, and Diba in Musandam witnessed moderate to heavy rains, Ibri, Dhank, and Yanqul saw heavy rains, leading to the flooding of Al Ma'eedin and Al Arshi wadis. In Buraimi, heavy to moderate rains led to the flooding of several wadis, including Al Aqar, and Habib wadis in Shinas were overflowing yesterday evening, disrupting regular activity in the area.
While light rains fell in Seeb in Muscat, moderate rainfall was also witnessed in Bahla, Al Hamra, Sumail, Izki, Bidbid, Nizwa, and Jabal Al Akhdar in the Dakhiliyah region.
In Batinah, light rains fell in Musana'ah, Rustaq, Awabi, Barka, Nakhal, and Wadi Al Ma'awail.
According to sources in Nizwa, an Indian expatriate was reportedly killed in a road accident in Samail, when the car in which he was travelling skidded off the wet road.
 "Saravanan, a resident of Nizwa and an employee of the Ministry of Health, was on his way to work, accompanied by his Omani colleagues. His car skidded off the road, and although his colleagues survived with minor injuries, he died," the victims' friends told Times of Oman.
Meanwhile, sources in Shinas noted that this area had been the hardest hit by yesterday's downpour.
