Rogue drivers ground new cab system at airport a second time

Mumbai: A week after the Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) launched a new automated system for allotting prepaid taxis to passengers arriving at the domestic terminal, "rogue" taxi drivers have succeeded in getting it suspended for a second time, alleged taxi union leader A L Quadros.
Quadros, who has gathered signatures of 2,000 cabbies, will move the Bombay high court to get the system restarted.
"The new system was introduced to bring in transparency and keep errant cabbies at bay. But a section of drivers put pressure on airport authorities got the passenger-friendly system suspended last weekend. When the RTO intervened and got it restarted this week, a group of cabbies protested again and got it suspended on Wednesday night," Quadros said.
