Panjim: Is the delay in release of a request for qualification (RFQ) for proposed green field international airport at Mopa has been triggered by the resurgence of Dabolim airport issue on a bigger scale?
There are reasons to believe that the government may be deliberately going slow on the release of RFQ in a view of the Dabolim issue getting momentum in South Goa.
The chief minister Manohar Parrikar had announced in Goa Assembly last month that RFQ for Mopa airport will be issued in the next few days.But RFQ document has not been released yet. Anand Sherkhane, joint secretary budget, said it will take a few more days to release the RFQ.
The government has repeatedly maintained that the Dabolim airport will not be closed even as Mopa becomes operational.The BJP-led government wants to have the first phase of the airport ready by early 2015.
