Man held with 3-kg gold bars, jewellery at SVPIA


Ahmedabad: A man, carrying undeclared gold bars and biscuits weighing over 3-kg, besides jewellery, with a total value of Rs 1.33 crore, was arrested today by customs officials at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) here.
"Divyesh Gandhi, a resident of Tankara in Rajkot district, had arrived this morning from Dubai by Emirates flight AK-538, and was trying to pass through the green channel," a custom official said.
"Following suspicion, he was asked to go through the red channel. During the search gold bars and biscuits of 3.0832-kg were recovered from his possession, besides jewellery weighing over 500 grams, the total value of which is around Rs 1.33 crore," they said.
