SA, India face off in Gupta row

A diplomatic scuffle may be looming between the high commission of India and the South African government.
This as the directors-general's report into the Gupta plane landing scandal accuses an official in the Indian office of "manipulating" circumstances to enable a private plane chartered by the Gupta family to land at the Waterkloof Air Force Base last month.
On Tuesday, the high commission released a statement absolving itself of any wrong-doing.
In its statement, the high commission clearly contradicted statements made by Justice Minister Jeff Radebe last Sunday during a media briefing.
Radebe said an Indian high commission official used diplomatic channels - with the assistance of suspended chief of state protocol in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Bruce Koloane - to obtain permission for the chartered Jet Airways plane to land.
