Serbian pilot's family waits for compensation

Mangalore: While all the families of the Mangalore air crash victims have received compensation as per the order of a division bench of the Kerala high court, the family of dead pilot Zlatko Glusica hasn't received any relief from Air India.
The family appointed lawyer and 812 Foundation president Yeshwanth Shenoy to get what is due to it. Shenoy told TOI the airline is delaying payment of compensation to the pilot's family. "Air India has even denied he is an employee," he added.
Shenoy has filed a claim on behalf of the family in the Mumbai labour court. He said as the family members are foreigners and don't have anyone to speak for them or take up their matter with Air India or aviation ministry officials, Air India is lax about doing anything for them.
Advocate and solicitor Hoshang D Nanavati from Mulla & Mulla told TOI, "Pilots do not fall under carriage by the Air Act. They're covered under workmen's compensation. The money has been deposited with the employees' commissioner who is supposed to distribute money to the affected."
