Mumbai: Gary Kenneth Toomey, an aviation industry veteran, will take charge as the chief executive officer of Jet Airways, almost two months after Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways picked up a stake in India’s second largest carrier.
The 58-year-old Australian national has an extensive experience of the international, domestic and regional aviation sector. He has previously served as president and CEO of the Air New Zealand Group and as CEO of Airlines PNG in Papua New Guinea during their periods of major expansion.
He has also worked with Qantas Airways and Australian Airlines.

His appointment follows the exit of Nikos Kardassis, who served two terms at Jet as CEO, initially between 1993 and 1999, and from October 2009 till May 2013.
