Chennai: A technical snag in an Air India flight delayed its departure by almost three-and-half hours on Wednesday night at the city airport. Among the 115-odd passengers were union ministers G. K. Vasan and V. Narayanaswamy.
The AI 043 flight bound to Delhi was scheduled to leave at 9 pm, but due to a fault in its engine, it left the city only at 00.30 am on Thursday. After the passengers had completed their departure formalities, they boarded the plane and its doors were shut. The plane was pushed back from the parking lot to the taxi track. When the pilot started the engine, he noticed a technical snag. When contacted, a spokesperson for AI confirmed that Wednesday's 9 pm Air India flight to Delhi was forced to return to the parking bay at about 9.15 pm due to an engine snag.
