British Airways exploring feasibility of return: Firhad

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is keen that the British Airways return to Kolkata and set their headquarters here, said Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim today.
Hakim was at a meeting of UK delegation in Kolkata headed by British Cabinet Minister Eric Pickles.
The airline withdrew from the city in 2009, citing "route rationalisation" as the reason.
"I have been told that they are studying the feasibility. They are studying the routes to make a possible comeback. A survey is under way, they will let us know about their actions in this regard," Hakim added.
Hakim also said the state was taking necessary initiative to attract British investment to the state. "I have already approached the (UK) minister in this regard."
