Chennai: A special team of the Chennai Police arrested Shaji Purushothaman, prime suspect in the Mercedes accident case, soon after immigration authorities detained him on arrival at the Kochi international airport early on Thursday. Mr. Shaji, who was declared as a proclaimed offender, will be produced in a city court here by evening, police sources said.
A 'Look-out Circular' (LOC) was issued against Mr. Shaji enabling immigration authorities to detain him on arrival at any international airport in the country. He arrived in Kochi from Bangkok via Colombo, police sources said and added that police would bring him to Chennai after obtaining transit remand orders from a local court.
