Mumbai: If your flight is scheduled to take off from or land at the Mumbai airport between 3pm and 11pm, it is likely to be delayed more than those during the rest of the day. Over 20% arriving and departing flights were delayed during this period in May (see box), revealed recent data published by the Mumbai airport.
"Arrivals were delayed more than departures. Twenty-three per cent departures and 24% arrivals were delayed by more than 15 minutes," said an official. "Even after 11pm, 25% of arriving flights were delayed."
Officials said the traffic begins by 6pm and the mid-air holding time of flights goes up to 15-25 minutes on an average. This has been the situation not just in May, but all round the year, said officials.
