Fliers ‘trapped’ in hot, stuffy plane for 2 hours

Mumbai: More than 160 passengers were struck inside a "hot and stuffy" Jet Airways plane for two hours on Friday afternoon after a technical problem delayed the flight's takeoff.
Fliers aboard Jet Konnect's flight S2 4523, from Mumbai to Kozhikode, felt like they had been "kidnapped" when the cabin crew refused to provide them any food and the pilot denied them permission to get off the plane for fresh air.
The pilot, they claimed, threatened to get them arrested if they stepped outside. "We were stuck inside while technical crew took their time to fix the fault," said Swati Popat Vats, president of Podar Education Network that runs schools in the city.
The flight was scheduled to take off at 11.40 am, but boarding began only after 12.15 pm. After the passengers got inside the aircraft, they were told that the flight would take off late as a technical fault was being resolved. Some other passengers also complained about the bad in-flight conditions to Mirror before the plane finally left the Mumbai airport around 2.18 pm.
