Mangalore: A person named Shabab Mattummal (24) from Kolavayal in Kasargod, was arrested on his arrival from Dubai at the local airport on the evening of Monday June 10.
He was found to be smuggling 157 grams of gold ornaments worth about Rs 3.37 lac from the Gulf.
It is gathered that these chains were packed in white paper and then covered with brown gum tape. The packet was then concealed in a thermos flask, the customs officials said.
