Maharashtra Government to upgrade airports, construct new ones

Mumbai: Maharashtra Government has undertaken upgradation of existing airports and construction of new ones under the 12th Five Year plan, officials said.
"Rs 1,350 crore have been sanctioned under the 12th Five Year plan for airport upgradation and construction of new ones. Maharashtra has 22 existing airports, out of which upgradation would be done at Kolhapur, Solapur, Amravati and Karad," officials said.
Similarly, 16 new ones have been planned at places including Chandrapur, Beed and Gadchiroli, they added.
