Mumbai set to get country's second ATC simulator

Mumbai: Trainee air traffic controllers at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) now won’t have to wait for their turn to undergo training at the Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulator in Allahabad, because an ATC simulator has been commissioned for the city.
An ATC simulator is a computerised system through which trainee controllers or controllers requiring advanced training are trained to deal with real-life monitoring of air traffic. Only after receiving theory and simulator training are the trainees placed in an actual ATC.
The introduction of a simulator within the city, officials say, will help solve the problem of the shortage of controllers at the airport, which becomes acute when they go to Allahabad for training.
