Nigeria: Dana plane crash victims immortalised

Dana plane crash victims - A commemorative service in honour of the 157 victims of last year’s Dana Airline plane crash was held Monday at the crash site in Iju-Ishaga, on the outskirts of the commercial city of Lagos, with the laying of wreaths and opening of a memorial cenotaph.
“Exactly one year ago, we were all crest fallen in this state. We had experienced a tragic accident whose cause remains yet unknown,' the Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, told hundreds of mourners, including members of the diplomatic corps, who had gathered at the memorial arcade built to immortalise the victims.
PANA reports that many mourners, including those from India, China, the United States and Nigeria were united by a common grief -- the loss of their loved ones.
'It was an accident that took place in Lagos. But its impact and reach were beyond our borders,' Governor Fashola added.
The Dana plane, flight 992 on 3 June, 2012, left the Nigerian capital city of Abuja on a one-hour local trip to Lagos.
One hundred and fifty three passengers on board the aircraft, including the crew members, perished when the plane crashed just one minute away from the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
