Srikant Jena faces flak for flight delay

Bhubaneswar: In an strange turn of events, Union minister Srikant Jena, on board an Air India flight on Monday night, found himself the target of passengers' anger after the flight was diverted midway.
A source said Air India flight A-1473 from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi was supposed to take off from the Biju Patnaik Airport at 8.50 pm. However, the flight took off more than an hour late, at 10.10 pm. Not only that, minutes after it was airborne, passengers were told by an air-hostess that they would be flying to New Delhi via Kolkata.
Passengers, already miffed at the delay in taking off, got furious at the announcement, and seeing the minister on the aircraft, took it for granted that the change in the flight's schedule was made at Jena's behest. They had a heated exchange with the senior Congress leader. "The passengers, who were to catch onward international flights from Delhi, were most frustrated," said Chinmaya Kumar Swain, a passenger.
