Bhubaneswar: Taxis and personal cars won't be allowed more than five minutes for pick up and drop at the free parking in front of Biju Patnaik airport here. Anyone staying for more than the stipulated time will be charged parking fee.
The airport authorities took the decision after Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB) engaged by airport authorities, conducted a study, which revealed that five minutes was enough for it. People had demanded 10 minutes for halting at the free parking space. "Technical experts from XIMB carried out a mock pick and drop using a car to record the exact time between entering the airport and exiting it. It was 2.52 minutes," said airport director Sharad Kumar.
This is the second study conducted in two months to clear the doubts of public, who were criticising airport officials for charging parking fee.
