Chennai: A 42-year-old Afghan national was deported from the Chennai international airport to his country on Saturday after he was found possessing a fake Indian passport on arrival from Kuala Lumpur on Friday.
The immigration officials were baffled over his possessing a fake Indian passport and the Intelligence Bureau commenced investigations into the issue to ascertain whether he has links with terror outfits.
Mohamed Harif, 42, reached Chennai airport from Kuala Lumpur on an Air Asia flight on Friday evening. The Indian passport he carried was obtained on a New Delhi address.
On suspicion, the immigration officials questioned him and searched his baggage. They found he also possessed an Afghanistan passport.
