New Delhi: After fighting for around five years, R.K. Garg will finally be paid Rs.5 lakh for a trip that went horribly wrong. Garg had filed a complaint against the Gulf Air alleging that his seat was allotted to someone else on the day he was supposed to take his flight for Delhi from Bahrain.
The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has awarded Rs.5 lakh as compensation to the industrialist for facing "harassment and inconvenience" at the hands of the airlines. "The complainant is an eminent industrialist. Also being the founder, promoter and Chairman of Steel Strips Group of companies his every minute is valuable," the order passed by the commission stated.
"We direct Gulf Air to pay the complainant a sum of Rs.32, 010 for value of the ticket, Rs.5 lakh as compensation for the mental agony, harassment and inconvenience suffered," the order said. According to the complaint Garg filed, the seat shuffle came after the flight was initially delayed for a day due to bad weather.
