Panaji: Dabolim airport will remain fully functional as the runway, which was to be closed from 5-7 pm daily till July 23 for a precise topographical survey, will now be fully operational.
A Navy spokesperson told TOI that the survey work had stopped, and hence there was no further need to close down the runway for a few hours daily. The work began on July 3 and concluded on Monday.
Airport director M Suresh too confirmed that the closure order had been withdrawn.
A topographical survey is mandatory before carrying out a complete resurfacing of the runway that is planned for in the near future to obviate frequent closure of runway for temporary repairs or foreign object damage to any aircraft.
