DGCA to probe flight diversions after tractor got stuck on runway

Mumbai: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a basic probe after it was informed of an incident where nine flights were diverted at Mumbai airport on June 25 after an airport tractor got stuck on the main runway. The matter was reported to the and a basic probe has been ordered. Airport officials said that on June 25 Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) asked the air traffic control (ATC) to hand over the main runway for maintenance from 2 to 4 pm. The runway was handed over and flight operations were shifted to the secondary runway.But officials said the visibility dropped due to heavy rains and landings on the secondary runway had to be stopped.
