MoEF to take up Navi Mumbai airport issue

Riding high on clearance from the standing committee of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) last month, the long pending Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) project will on Thursday come up before the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) seeking clearance for around 250 hectares of forest land in Raigad.
The FAC apparently wanted clarification on several deficiencies in the project — clearance from the NBWL, a detailed resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) plan, detailed compensatory afforestation plan, among others.
