Mysore: Close on the heels of the Mangalore airport getting the international tag, the Mysore Airport has also started thinking on terms of becoming an international airport.
The first meeting in this regard that took place on Monday chalked out extensive plans for land acquisition, road development and design for the proposed international facility. Southern Karnataka will have the third international airport if the plans of Airport Authority of India plans were to be realised.
According to the district officials, the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has been directed to acquire about 200 acres of land, the Mysore airport, now which comes alive during the Dasara period, getting chartered flights from Europe, Russia and the US has been built on a land of 175 acres. According to the Airports Authority of India, to set up a full-scale international airport in Mysore, it required 175 acres more in the first phase, 143 acres in the second phase and 25 acres in the last phase.
