Chennai: What she imagined would be a dream send off became a rather more business-like one. Chennai’s new international air terminal does not permit visitors inside. A passenger, who dreamt of waving her parents goodbye from the departure area prior to leaving on her trip abroad for higher education, was acutely disappointed to have to make do with a brisk separation at the entrance.
S. Preetha, an engineering graduate from K.K. Nagar, Chennai, had a big ticket admission to pursue a postgraduate programme at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. When she reached the airport on Monday, she was shocked to find that her father would not be allowed inside the terminal.
“Today is a very important day for me and I really felt bad to take leave of my father at the entrance gate,” Preetha told Deccan Chronicle.
