Woman, hubby nabbed for smuggling gold in underwear

Mangalore: In an apparent first, sleuths of the directorate of revenue intelligence, based on a tip-off, arrested a man and his wife on charges of smuggling gold at Mangalore International Airport on Saturday.
The family - Fathima Nazreen and her husband - Arshad Ali Mushtaq Ahmed of Bhatkal - who arrived from Dubai by Air India Express flight at 9.30am were detained and during a search, 2 kg of gold valued at Rs 50 lakh was recovered from Fathima.
"The gold - two biscuits and gold chains that was wrapped - were concealed in the undergarments worn by Fathima," sources said. Fathima, her husband and their five-year-old child were detained and the duo was formally arrested.
