11 Indonesians who arrived without valid visas sent back

Chennai: Eleven members of a group of Indonesians who arrived in the city by a Tiger Airlines flight from Singapore on Monday early morning were sent back by the same airline on Monday night as they did not have valid Indian visas.
Police said the group led by Mohamed Gulam had taken a flight from Singapore without a valid tourist visa issued by the Indian embassy there. The group members told immigration officials that they were misled by someone who said visas were issued on arrival in India.
They tried to reason with officials saying they were to take a train to New Delhi from the city as part of their tour package. Immigration officials refused and sent them back to Singapore and told them that they could come only on a valid visa issued by the Indian diplomatic mission.
