Kerala Human Rights Commission to issue notice to Air India

Kochi: State Human Rights Commission will issue show cause notices to Air India and its pilot Rupali Waghmare asking as to why action should not be taken against them in connection with the emergency landing of an Air India Express flight in Thiruvananthapuram on October 19. The incident occurred after the pilot issued a hijack alert when passengers protested over flight delay.
The commission had earlier sent notices to both the parties following a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by NGO People's Movement for Civil Rights, seeking Rs 10 lakh compensation from Air India for filing criminal cases against the passengers.
The commission had asked both the parties to be present for the hearing in Ernakulam on Wednesday.
