AirAsia India gets pilots & crew on board; route plans, flight schedules ready

New Delhi: AirAsia India, the proposed low-cost airline of Malaysia's AirAsia Bhd and the Tatas, has quietly assembled the entire management as well as pilots - many of them from the grounded Kingfisher Airlines - crew and engineers for two planes it has leased for a possible November launch.
AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya said route plans, flight schedules and workforce are in place as the airline prepares to clear the final two regulatory hurdles. "I am aiming for a launch at the end of this year, hopefully in November," he said.
The airline has named Vijay Gopalan, who was previously financial controller of Compass Group and an auditor with Ernst & Young, as chief financial officer; former GoAir executive Nadeem Badri Khan as head of IT; and Gajapthy Sampath as head of engineering.
