Mumbai: The directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) has asked all airports in the country to have an air quality monitoring system. The airports will have to submit the air quality data to the DGCA on a quarterly and annual basis. The circular is one among the many circulars DGCA has released to monitor the environmental cost of aircraft activity as demanded by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The circular states that airports which cannot have a station install a mobile station which can monitor the air inside and outside the airport. The station should also be able to monitor basic meteorological parameters like wind speed, temperature, wind direction and relative humidity.
