Mysore airport gearing up for Dasara flights

Mysore: The recent move of the KSRTC of introducing direct bus connectivity between Mysore and Bengaluru International Airport has dampened the prospects of the Mysore airport.
Aviation experts view the bus service as detrimental to the scope of growth of commercial flights at the Mysore airport. Director of the airport, C Manjunath, told dna that the airport operates only three commercial flights a week. He said this lean schedule does not mean much to a city that has more than moderate volume of commercial air passengers. However, with Dasara around, he said they are expecting not less than 75 chartered flights in September and October and about 1,600-1,700 in the current fiscal year.
“However, chartered flights from Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and many other smaller destinations do have regular operations to Mysore, which makes it the most popular charter tourism destination in the South,” he said.
