'CISF must handle Juhu airport security'

Mumbai: Security at Juhu airport is not any better than that provided to residential buildings in the city, as the Airports Authority of India (AAI), in a bid to keep costs low, continues to deploy unarmed personnel from the Maharashtra State Security Guards Board.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has raised an objection and has ordered AAI to bring in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
In a letter to the AAI chairman, BCAS spoke about security arrangements at Juhu and asked why they were "still being looked after by unarmed guards of the board". The letter, signed by K C Upadhyay, BCAS deputy commissioner, said CISF personnel should be deployed and they must be solely responsible for access control and perimeter security at Juhu airport.
