Regional air connectivity: Centre to meet States on Sept 10

New Delhi: The Centre has convened a meeting of Ministers and Secretaries of all State Governments to discuss steps to enhance regional connectivity.
The meeting, to be held here on September 10, comes at a time when the Centre is looking to firms up a policy to promote regional connectivity, Secretary Civil Aviation K.N. Srivastava said on Friday.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 6th Assocham international conference on ‘Civil Aviation and Tourism’, Srivastava said at present Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Patna had capacity constraints for the sector.
“The Chennai airport is not constrained at the moment, but will become constrained in the next six-seven years. That is why the Sriperumbudur airport is being looked at,” he added.
