Chandigarh: A police post, comprising over 18 policemen, including women cops, will come up at Chandigarh airport.
The decision was taken in the wake of long distance between the airport and Sector 31 police station, round-the-clock passenger movement and security reasons. The matter was also discussed in a recent meeting between Chandigarh police and airport security officials. DSP (south) Surjeet Malik said, "At present, only two UT police head constables are appointed at the airport for routine duty. In an emergency, much time will be consumed even if manpower is sent from Sector 31 police station, which is five kilometers away."
