Vizag airport can touch new heights in Seemandhra

Visakhapatnam: While the issue of bifurcation looms large over the state, the city of Vizag finds itself in a unique position as it is the only city in Coastal Andhra to boast of an international airport. Vizag already has international connectivity to two global transport hubs - Singapore and Dubai.
With the thrust entirely on developing international connectivity between Hyderabad and other global destinations during all these years, industry and air travellers feel it is high time that Vizag gets its due with the airport being made operational 24/7 at the earliest.
According to D Varada Reddy, president (Vizag chapter), Air Travellers Association of India, in the event of the creation of a new state, Vizag should be made the air travel capital. "There should be new flights from Vizag. We are already expecting a number of carriers to commence new flights, including an Air India early morning flight from Delhi to Vizag and onward to Bangkok as well as a flight from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur via Vizag.
