Mangalore: Officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport at Kenjar here seized 'Badiee' brand of Iranian Saffron weighing approximately 10kgs from a passenger who arrived by Air India Express flight 814 from Dubai on Wednesday. Value of saffron that was concealed along with clothes and other personal effects inside two carton boxes from a passenger is Rs 10 lakh, D Purushottam, commissioner of customs, Mangalore said. The passenger Abdul Shukkur Pallipuzha is a resident of Pallikere in Kasargod district. The passenger has been arrested and produced before the magistrate, Further investigation is under progress. Operations was conducted under the supervision of V Shreenivas Phani, assistant commissioner along with superintendents C N Rajashekar, Vasudeva Naik D, B Prabhakara Poojary, Lionel Fernandez, B A Kariappa and inspectors.
