Ex-CBI official in gold smuggling case

Kochi: The Nedumbassery gold smuggling case turned more intriguing on Thursday as John Joseph,  additional director of directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI), who is alleged to have introduced smuggler T.K. Faiz to Kochi air customs deputy commissioner C. Madhavan, revealed that the accused was introduced to him by T. Vikram,  former superintendent of the Central Bureau of Investigations.
With the new revelations,  top officials of customs, DRI and CBI have come under the scanner of investigators. C. Madhavan, who is now facing a CBI case on the  charge of taking bribe from smugglers, had earlier revealed that he was introduced to Faiz by a DRI official  and that he had no links with the international racket. He also alleged that a woman officer in the customs was targeting him by dragging his name into the case.
