Kerala CM inaugurates 29th IATO Annual Convention in Kochi

 Mumbai:The 29th Annual Convention of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) was inaugurated on September 8, 2013 by Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister (CM) of Kerala, at Le Meridien, Kochi. Present at the occasion were Prof. K V Thomas, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Consumer Affairs, Government of India; K C Venugopal, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India; A P Anilkumar, Minister for Tourism, Government of Kerala; Usha Sharma, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Vijayan Thomas, Chairman, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC); Suman Billa, Secretary, Kerala Tourism; and S Harikishore IAS, Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala.
In his welcomes address, Arun Anand, Chairman, IATO Convention 2013, thanked Chandy for being present at the event. He briefly introduced the IATO programme for the Convention, making a special mention of IATO Run for Responsible Tourism, an auction to raise funds for charity, and thought-provoking business sessions, a release stated.
Addressing the delegates, Subhash Goyal, President, IATO, spoke about the problem areas for the tourism industry of the country, and added that extra efforts need to be taken for relaxation of visa norms and improvement of tourism infrastructure.
