Kohima: Parliamentary secretary transport Paiwang Konyak made a fervent appeal to the union civil aviation minister, to accord top priority and personal attention on improvement of air connectivity to Nagaland while lamenting that the 16th state of the union, on its 50th statehood anniversary, continued to suffer from neglect and unfair treatment in this sector.
Speaking at the civil aviation ministers conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, Paiwang said Nagaland has only one airport at Dimapur, where flights were introduced with Fokker F-27 aircraft after Airport Authority took over from the IAF in 1978.
He said currently the only airline serving Dimapur is Air India with six days a week flight. He however said Air India was to suspend Friday flights and reduce it from six days to five days a week by the end of September.
