Thiruvananthapuram: A special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be formed to implement the aeropolis project of Thiruvananthapuram airport, Health and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar said here on Monday. A decision in this regard will be taken at a meeting to be presided over by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on September 20.
The project aims at developing the airport as a hub of road, sea and inland transports. A high-level meeting attended by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal and Minister of State for Human Resources Shashi Tharoor had decided to appoint KSCDC as the nodal agency for the project. Knight Frank, an agency has been assigned to submit the viability study report within 16 months.
The project promoted by the State Planning Board has the financial assistance of VSSC, Brahmos, Technopark, Aerospace, Air India MRO, Rajiv Gandhi Academy of Aviation Unit.
