Kozhikode: Gold worth nearly Rs 30 lakh was seized by customs officers from a passenger who arrived at the Karipur international airport from Sharjah on Thursday morning. Aboobacker Younis (44), of Mukkithara near Changaramkulum in Malappuram, was trying to smuggle in gold disguised as brass decorative items.
Customs officers said the gold was detected in a baggage scan. Younis had arrived on board the Air India flight from Sharjah at 6.30 am. This is the third gold seizure at the Karipur airport in a week.
