Mumbai: Public purpose is not served if Mumbai International Airport Limited, the agency tasked with operations at the city airport, terminates its contract with private developer Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited for allegedly not completing airport slum redevelopment as per an agreement, the Bombay high court said on Tuesday.
The judges made the observation while hearing an appeal filed by the private developer, challenging an earlier order of the high court, refusing to grant any relief to them [the developer].
The airport agency had cancelled a mega slum rehabilitation agreement signed with the developer to clear 276 acres of airport land encroached upon by slums near the city airport.
