Pilots cheered for heroic bid to save lives

New Delhi: As news of the emergency landing of an IAF aircraft spread in east Delhi, curious residents from the colonies around Shastri Park headed to the DDA ground to catch a glimpse of the microlight. Within an hour, around 3,000 gathered at the ground near Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. A police team reached the spot with five minutes of the accident and cordoned off the area.Additional cops were deployed in the area to keep the crowd at bay, but a few of them managed to reach the pilots sitting next to the aircraft and wanted to get a photograph with them. "These men are heroes; they saved our lives by landing at a safe place that is why we wanted to click photographs with them," said Binu, a resident of Usmanpur.
