RTO official to be posted at airport stands

Mumbai:  The Andheri RTO will, for the first time, post an official at the airport auto/taxi stands round-the-clock and ask the police too to post a constable. This will ensure a crackdown on errant taxi drivers.
Travellers facing any kind of harassment at the stands can approach the RTO official and lodge a complaint against the taxi/auto drivers. The move comes after new deputy RTO Pradeep Shinde kept a watch on the functioning of the stands over the past week and tried to understand the problems faced by travellers. "Thousands of passengers arrive at the city airport daily. Most depend on the public transport, especially the black-and-yellow taxis and cool cabs. I want to streamline the system of availing prepaid cabs at the airport," he said.
