After new investment in Dabolim no plans to shut it: CM

Vasco: After the huge investment in building a new terminal for Dabolim airport, if anyone feels that the airport will be shut down they are fools, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said on Thursday at Dabolim. He added that the state government will only provide land for the airport at Mopa and make no other investment in it.
"None can make this kind of investment in constructing a new terminal for an airport if there are plans to close the airport. Mopa airport project was started by the same people like Churchill (Alemao) and Luizinho (Faleiro) who have come out to criticize it today. I have documents to prove this," Parrikar said.
He said that private operators can come forward to construct the airport at Mopa and it is market forces that will decide if it is commercially viable to build the airport and operate it for a private operator.
"We are making Dabolim airport completely economically viable. The government stand on Mopa is clear that only land will be provided and I will not finance it," Parrikar said.
