Air India agrees to withdraw notices, reinstate staff

Mumbai:  Over a month after Air India derostered 16 flight attendants and issued showcause notices to 40 others, the airline made peace with its employees on Tuesday.
The thaw in relations came after the employees, backed by the Shiv Sena staged a demonstration outside the domestic terminal of Mumbai airport and threatened to disrupt the airline's flight operations if their demands were not met.
The protest did not lead to any disruption in flight operations.
The protest pertains to the airline management's decision to follow the Dharmadhikari committee report and implement the work-rest period rules framed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
Till now, the airline used to follow "bilateral agreement", wherein the norms for maximum hours of work/rest were chalked by the cabin crew union and the management.
