Air travellers from 4 more cities to get fog updates this winter

New Delhi: Travellers flying from Lucknow, Varanasi, Amritsar and Jaipur airports would be able to get advance weather information particularly on dense fog conditions. On an average, dense fog across north west India delays the schedule of over 80-100 flights in any given airport owing to runway visibility being less than 50 metres.
Currently, passengers flying from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi get 6-18 hours advance visibility and fog forecast information to reschedule and plan their trip in case of any delays. "From this year, we are going to implement fog monitoring forecast and dissemination system on an experimental basis for four airports — Lucknow, Varanasi, Amritsar and Jaipur— which have a considerable domestic and international flow," said K Jenamani, director incharge, meteorological watch office at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
